ERICA THE VOICE THE WORLD

NEEDS TO HEAR

Erica Iji is a 22 year old, Plymouth born solo artist. Her style is predominantly urban although she likes to experiment with other genres. She comes from a musical family. 'When I was three my nan gave me a toy mic and I’ve never looked back! My dad, who is Nigerian, used to play his African and reggae music, and my mum, who is English, was more into her soul and Motown.

I grew up with the sounds of Stevie Wonder, Marvin Gaye and Diana Ross (to name but a few).' Erica's career began by attending stage school at a young age, at which point she knew performing was what she wanted to do.

In the recent past she has had interest from a number of major record labels, including Arista, Polydor, MCA and Edel. She also featured in magazines, including Blues & Soul, 24/7 and the national urban magazine Touch. Her tracks were featured on the issue’s free CD.

Erica has just finished an FdA in Sound and Music Technology and is also learning to play the piano. 'Through studying music I have discovered many other talented musicians and producers who I have collaborated with. I am also working hard to improve my writing skills. I have pursued my ambition to sing, gaining experience performing my own solo gigs.

Erica is currently working on an album for State Of Emergency Limited with producer John Saxon who has also produced three albums with Lee ‘Scratch’ Perry. A single including the tracks ‘Unconditional’, ‘Break It To You’ and ‘Tell Me Why’ is now available on promo. The album will be ready in the Spring of 2007.
